The UI Health Care EMS Fellowship is not accepting any applications for the 2026-2027 academic year.
The University of Iowa Division of EMS is undergoing multiple role transitions in AY 2025-2026 due to personnel departure. Consequently, the coming year will be filled with multiple adjustments and a steep learning curve for all.
We in the EMS Division strive to provide the highest level of clinical care, medical director oversight, and education to those in our purview; specifically, within the Fellowship we pride ourselves in providing a comprehensive, high-quality experience that prepares fellows to work in any environment and scenario they may enter upon graduation.
After internal discussions between the EMS Division, Fellowship faculty and staff, and the communities of interest, we have decided not to accept any fellowship applications for the 2026-2027 Academic Year. We are planning to participate in the match for AY 2027-2028 so please return to the site for further information related to that application cycle in the future.
Eligibility
This fellowship only accepts graduates of an ACGME-accredited Emergency Medicine Residency.
International candidates are welcome to apply; however, this program does not sponsor visas.
Required documents
- Cover letter indicating:
- Your interest in pursuing an EMS Fellowship
- Any additional relevant information regarding your EM residency-related EMS experience and other past EMS experiences
- What career goals you hope to accomplish with an EMS Fellowship
- Curriculum vitae
- Letter from the program director of your ACGME – accredited residency in Emergency Medicine indicating program completion or good standing in progress toward completion.
- Three letters of recommendation from residency faculty, with at least one from a practicing EMS physician.
