Spring 2026 Session: March 3-4, 2026

The University of Iowa Department of Emergency Medicine is proud to offer the Iowa Emergency Ultrasound Fundamentals Course, a unique educational experience for emergency medicine providers. This course is a CME experience unlike any other.  Learners will spend two days in Iowa City with the opportunity to participate in a variety of ultrasound educational experiences including lectures, case based small group discussions, and hands on scanning of live models for all core emergency applications.

All of these sessions are taught or facilitated by faculty members in the University of Iowa Department of Emergency Medicine, Division of Emergency Ultrasound with additional training in ultrasound.

Subject areas covered include core concepts of emergency ultrasound including both diagnostic and ultrasound guided procedural skills. The number of learners is limited to facilitate direct interaction with the faculty, and to encourage group discussions of the various topics covered. This also provides the faculty the opportunity to give individualized attention to the learners. This unique educational environment provides an excellent opportunity for learners and faculty to maximize the impact of the course.
